Here's a preview of your letters to Congress.

Dear President Obama:
Dear Representative Levin:
Dear Senator Levin:
Dear Senator Stabenow:
The vulnerable Christian Assyrian nation (also known as Chaldean and
Syriac), the indigenous people of the land, have yet again come under fire
in Iraq. Thousands of Kurdish Muslim men took to the streets after a Fatwa
(religious decree) was issued by a Muslim cleric at a Friday prayer. The
Fatwa ordered the Islamists to assault those who violate the Sharia Law.
Numerous Christian businesses were destroyed by fire as the criminals
stood by watching, congratulating one another for their supposed victory.
Video shot by bystanders show men chanting Alah-O- Akbar (God is Great) as
they approached Christian stores. These crimes against humanity create a
renewed fear in the hearts of a community which has been reduced from 1.4
million prior to 2003 to currently a mere 600,000.
We at the American Mesopotamian Organization and the Iraqi Christian
Relief Council strongly condemn these heinous acts.
We moreover ask:
- The United Nations and human rights organizations throughout the world
to stop turning a blind eye on the plight of the Christians in Iraq.
- The world powers, particularly the United States Government, to break
their silence and demand justice for a nation (Assyrian) which has endured
numerous loss of lives and property for almost a decade.
- All American citizens to sign this petition and send a strong message to
President Obama and to their State Representatives and demand answers from
the State Department in regards to these criminal acts committed against
the Assyrian people in Iraq.
- The US Congress and the Obama Administration to put an indefinite freeze
on all funds allotted to the Kurdistan Regional Government until a full
investigation has been completed and the perpetrators of these dreadful
acts are brought to justice.
WE @NOOIC
www.nooic.org believe the protection &
equal rights/treatments etc. to All Iraqi Minorities in particular the
Iraqi Christians must be Preserved, and since Christians have been &
continue to be a constant target for executions, assassinations,
discrimination, kidnapping etc. due to their religion, in order to drive
them out of Iraq USA, World Leaders must not allow this to continue. A
start to have Autonomous Region and to Self Rule within Nineveh Province,
Iraq for Christians, where Iraqi Jewish may feel comfortable & safe to go
to Iraq & other Minority Group, the Nineveh Province should be provided to
ALL Iraqi Minorities groups including Iraqi Christians, which entitles
them for at least 10% of Entire Iraq's Oil Revenue (Retroactive) &
Proceeds, as the Iraqi Christians & Iraqi Jews were in Iraq long before
the Iraqi Muslims. Please push to demand that Iraqi Government to declare
that Nineveh Province is to be Self Rule by Iraqi Minority groups. We
continue to Pray for Almighty GOD To protect, rescue & save the Iraqi
Christians. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Mr. Tahrir (aka Tom) Kalasho

You have taken action on "DEMAND PROTECTION FOR THE ASSYRIAN CHRISTIANS
IN IRAQ."
Thank you very
much for your
note regarding
the plight of
ethno-religious
minorities in
Iraq. I
appreciate
hearing from
you about this
important
issue.
As you know
all too well,
unprecedented
violence and
instability in
Iraq has
placed the
Assyrian
communities in
exceptional
peril. Iraq’s
ancient
Christian
population,
once numbering
more than 3
million, has
declined
dramatically,
as Christians
-- along with
other
religious
minorities --
continue to
flee the
country. The
U.S. State
Department’s
2011 Religious
Freedom Report
found that the
Iraqi
Christian
population is
50% of its
2003 level,
and perhaps
lower. This
is a
staggering
depletion of a
community that
dates back
thousands of
years.
The plight of
Iraqi
Christians, in
particular, is
an issue that
I have worked
hard on, and I
am always
looking for
ways to bring
attention and
Congressional
support to the
problem. I
persist in
co-sponsoring
legislation
expressing
that U.S. and
Iraqi
governments
should
continue to
develop and
implement a
comprehensive
plan to
protect the
religious
minorities. I
also continue
to urge the
U.S.
government to
process Iraqi
refugees who
are fleeing
religious
persecution
without
unnecessary
delay.
Most recently,
I sent a
letter to
House and
Senate leaders
who are
currently
negotiating
the 2012
budget
regarding this
issue. The
letter
supports the
inclusion of
language in
the 2012
Appropriations
Act for State
and Foreign
Operations
which
recognizes the
critical need
for targeted
U.S.
assistance,
and explicitly
requires the
U.S. State
Department to
address
security and
assistance to
NGOs in the
Nineveh
Plains.
Please be
assured of my
continued and
strong support
for addressing
these
important
issues.
Thank you
again for
keeping in
touch.
Sincerely,
Sander Levin
