Senator Stabenow met with NASCAR driver and Rochester Hills
native Brad Keselowski at the Pure Michigan 400 race at the
Michigan International Speedway. She brought U.S. Secretary
of Agriculture Tom Vilsack to Michigan for the race. They
met with NASCAR drivers and inspected engines that use
American-grown ethanol, and highlighted Michigan's
leadership in advanced biofuel production. |

Senator Stabenow meets with small business owners, visits West
Michigan company |
Senator Stabenow held a small business roundtable with small
business owners to discuss how they can help Michigan's economy
grow. She then visited Clean Rooms International, a Cascade
Township company that is proof that small businesses are an
integral part of our economy. After years of renting, the
company was finally able to purchase its own facility after they
secured a loan through the Small Business Administration. SBA
loans to Michigan small businesses rose by over 30% from 2009 to
2010, helping over 1,600 Michigan companies grow. |

Senator Stabenow meets with West Michigan farmers to discuss
advances in agriculture |
Senator Debbie Stabenow, Chairwoman of the Senate Agriculture
Committee, met with West Michigan farmers, agribusiness owners
and other agriculture leaders at a forum at May Farms in Sparta
last week to discuss some of the exiting things happening in
areas like biofuels, food processing, specialty crops and
bio-based manufacturing. Michigan is second in the nation in
crop diversity, growing and producing more than 200 unique
commodities. Farmers also discussed the impact that food
processing has on Michigan's economy, and its potential to
continue generating jobs. Across the state, food processing
accounts for more than 40,000 jobs and contributes nearly $15
billion to the economy. |
